May Share the Plate

Every Sunday an offering is collected to support the ministry of the UUCHV with a portion of the non-pledge offering monies donated to a specific non-profit organization on a monthly basis. Share the Plate is just on way the UUCHV affirms and supports Unitarian Universalist Principles which calls for us to outreach and generously serve our local, as well as our international communities.

This May, Share the Plate will be Riverkeeper. Based in Ossining, Riverkeeper’s priorities are to guard our waterways, to defend clean drinking water and to find solutions to the threats on our local environment. They hold polluters accountable, making the Hudson cleaner and safer each year. They patrol the river, inform the public, and go to court whenever it’s necessary to eliminate illegal contamination. We are sharing the plate to show our support for the Riverkeeper Sweep, an annual program in which thousands of volunteers pick up trash along the shores of the beautiful Hudson River.

It is the SJC's hope that the UUCHV will support this effort. The Social Justice Committee welcomes suggestions for 'Share the Plate' offerings. Please give your suggestions to Bearni Croft

Thank you, Bearni Croft and the Social Justice Committee.
