This Months SHARE THE PLATE

During the month of October, UUCHV will “Share the Plate" with Pedals for Progress and Midnight Run. The first Sunday of October, UUCHV will “Share the Plate" with Pedals for Progress. For 26 years, P4P has collected usable bicycles and distributed them in 38 developing nations, providing the populace with cheap, non-polluting transportation to get to jobs, markets, customers, and schools. Additionally, it is also helping developing world economies by promoting self-sustaining bicycle repair businesses. On October 1, 2017 a local collection of adult or child’s bicycle in repairable condition will be held at the Asbury Methodist Church. They do not accept “bikes for parts” or disassembled bikes. They also accept working portable sewing machines and sewing notions (no fabric, please).Bikes and sewing machines can be dropped off from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday October 1, 2017 - rain or shine - at Asbury United Methodist Church located at 17 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. For more information: Call (914) 271-3178, or email <asburycroton2@gmail.com>. Or contact UUCHV Social Justice committee members, Teri Lukin (teri.lukin@timeinc.com) or Ginny Stillman (ginnystillman44@gmail.com) October’s Share the Plate will benefit Midnight Run. Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. Running over 900 relief missions per year, Midnight Run volunteers from churches, synagogues, schools and other civic groups distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City. Our own Youth Group will be conducting a Run in November and our donations go to support the Youth in this effort. Check out the website at www.midnightrun.org.
